Discover the Taste of Southern Brazil at Fogo De Chao

Listed as one of America’s Top Restaurants in 2006 by Zagat Survey, the restaurant is a true destination for steak lovers. In 1979, two sets of brothers founded the company—they are the Cosers and Ongarattos.

History

The brothers had formal training in churrasqueiro and developed the Fogo concept both in Rio Grande do Sul to Rio and São Paulo. Fogo de Chao, which means ‘fire on the ground,’ encapsulates the time-honored gaucho technique of roasting meats over fire. When they saw the opportunity to open in the United States, in 1997, they opened their first US restaurant in Dallas, Texas—all due to the requests of their loyal guests from the US.

In 2012, the company sold its shares to Thomas H. Lee Partners, an American private equity firm. As a full-service, fine dining Brazilian steakhouse, the company currently has nine locations in Brazil, and 29 locations in America.
